About Nowitz Photography

Founded by Richard Nowitz in 1978, Nowitz Photography is a family business comprised of three principal shooters spanning two generations. Today, the Nowitz Photography team includes Richard and two of his children, Abraham and Daniella Nowitz. This website features photography and video work by all three members of the Nowitz Photography team.

Richard Nowitz

Over the past 35 years, Richard has traveled to more than 35 of the world’s countries across six of its continents. From the time his children were very young, Richard encouraged them to travel with him on assignment. After many years of apprenticing under Richard, Abraham and Daniella are now professional photographers in their own right.

Richard Nowitz has been a National Geographic Photographer since 1991 and a contract photographer for Insight Guides since 1982, with over 40 book titles to his credit. Richard has won numerous awards for his travel photography from the Society of American Travel Writers (SATW), including the Society’s highest photography honor, Photographer of the Year, in 1998. His clients include National Geographic Traveler, Conde Nast Traveler, Time-Life Books and Endless Vacation, among many others.

Daniella Nowitz

Daniella is a photographer and cinematographer who has lived and worked in Washington DC, Rome, Montreal and Tel Aviv. Daniella’s photographs have been published in National Geographic Traveler, Berlitz Insight Guides and Condé Nast. She has worked as a documentary cinematographer for the National Geographic Channel, DogTV and the YES Documentary Channel. Her stock video collection is represented by Corbis Motion and Getty Images. Over the past few years, Daniella has transitioned to narrative cinematography, shooting commercials, video art and short films. She was recently DP on the series, LITTLE LIEBERMAN, which aired on the YES Comedy Channel. Daniella is currently beginning her studies as a cinematography fellow at the AFI Conservatory in Los Angeles.

Abraham Nowitz

Abraham is a visual artist, poet, web developer and teacher living and working in Minneapolis, MN. His photography has been published in National Geographic Traveler, Conde Nast Traveler, and Insight Guides and he is represented by Corbis, Getty and the National Geographic Image Collection. He received his M.F.A. from Brooklyn College.
